Converse & José Parlá
The latest in a long line of collaborations from the Converse PRODUCT(RED) project, this Chuck Taylor All Star has been created by Brooklyn-based painter José Parlá, an artist well-known for his abstract processes which blend calligraphy, collage, texture and color.
Making use of laser printing techniques, the shoes rework a painting by Parlá entitled Ephemeral Pitches, and Notes, Rhythm and Phonetics – a textural piece exploring urban lifestyles which was originally inspired by abstract noise, rhythms, languages and the sound created by cities.
With only 500 pairs available, the shoes are being released tomorrow to coincide with World AIDS Day and - as with all previous CONVERSE(RED) releases - 10% of the wholesale price will go directly to Global Fund programs that fight AIDS.
The Converse & José Parlá Chuck Taylor All Stars will be available from select retail accounts worldwide starting 1 December 2011
