Sneaker News & Intercity

It was a busy festive break here at Intercity as, in addition to authoring this blog, we recently finished an editorial collaboration with fellow footwear-blog Sneaker News. The project: to design the Sneaker News Top 30—Sneakers of 2011 book...

We were delighted to be asked to be involved with the book (the first time the SN Top 30 list has been turned in to a publication), as in the time of reflection at the end of the calendar year, the Sneaker News Top 30 list is always one of the best sneaker-year-reviews out there. Sadly, no artist or designer collaborations made it into the book, but there are of course plenty of visually stunning shoes, including Ronnie Fieg's tonal collaborations with the Asics Gel Lyte III (as referenced here), the eye-popping 3D pattern of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI, and of course, the massively hyped Nike MAG 2011 shoe (as interpreted here).

As well as the publication, the entire Top 30 list can be seen (for free) on the Sneaker News HD website, but for those of you who'd prefer a physical record of the best footwear of last year, the Sneaker News Top 30—Sneakers of 2011 book can be purchased now via Lulu for $25. Until Friday 6 January, Sneaker News is also offering a special 25% bonus discount code - see below for full details.

A special thanks must also go to Miles Newlyn for kindly letting us use his typeface Tonnage - the headline font used throughout the publication.
