adidas & Kate Moross

Part of the ongoing adidas Consortium ‘Your Story’ project, this collaboration with designer and illustrator Kate Moross is themed around the 2012 London Olympics. Created with grey suede uppers, the shoes feature a reflective triangle-based pattern including block-colour traingles which reference the various colours of the Olympic rings...

The top-tier adidas Consortium range made a welcome return in 2011, a ‘fresh start’ paving the way for this 2012 initiative which sees nine creative’s collaborating on a range of silhouettes from the Consortium F/W11 collection. Chosen from Olympic cities around the world, the selected creative partners were asked to take inspiration from their own past Olympic memories, translating them on to a shoe.

The project is being released in two stages, the initial stage (released on 19 May) including shoes from fashion designer Jim Thompson (Sydney), sneaker collector Quote (Berlin), musician DJ Muro (Tokyo), singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc (Los Angeles) and designer/illustrator Kate Moross (London) - whose bold and colourful work characteristically embraces all things geometric.

Apart from the grey suede upper with reflective triangles, Moross’ adidas BC (which stands for Baltic Cup) silhouette features a grey midsole, grey laces, a red fabric loop tag on the tongue (with Moross' logo) and a green loop tag on the heel. The shoe also comes with a bonus pack containing a selection of bright laces with alternating aglet colours, and, as a way of linking all of the shoes in the collection, each sneaker from the project features an Olympic-coloured eyelet on the tongue loop tag.

The second stage release for the collection is set for June 16, and will feature shoes from fashion designer Kara Messina (London), Happy Socks creative director Viktor Tell (Stockholm), illustrator Stefan Glerum (Amsterdam) and photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis (London). We'll have more details to share on some of these collaborations shortly…

In addition to the nine collaborative shoes in the collection, adidas Originals has also designed a tenth shoe, marking their 20th year of involvement in the Olympics with a BC silhouette. Created in a colourway inspired by the original adidas Olympia, a selection of sockliners celebrate classic silhouettes from the brand’s deep connection with Olympic history.

The adidas BC by Kate Moross is available at select retailers now. The second five-shoe release in the ‘Your Story’ collection is scheduled for 16 June 2012
