adidas & Stefan Glerum

For our final post on the adidas Consortium 'Your Story' sneaker collection, we're taking a look at the Decade Hi collaboration with Amsterdam-based illustrator Stefan Glerum...

As we've mentioned before, the 'Your Story' project sees nine creative’s collaborating on a range of silhouettes from the Consortium F/W11 collection. Chosen from Olympic cities around the world, the selected creative partners were asked to take inspiration from their own past Olympic memories, translating them on to a shoe.

Glerum chose to represent Amsterdam with a fairly subdued Decade Hi, featuring a navy blue and white colourway with a pop of red around the ankle collar. The shoes utilise a mix of nylon and leather, with the tongue displaying an interesting detail of three crosses - something which was inspired by the Amsterdam city flag. Both the outer sole and insole also features one of Glerum's illustrations; a 'fuller-figured' woman pole-vaulting...

We've decided to only show the 'artist' collaborations (including illustrator Kate Moross, photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis and, of course, Stefan Glerum) indepth here on the Art & Sole website, but the rest of the 'Your Story' collection includes shoes from fashion designer Jim Thompson, sneaker collector Quote, musician DJ Muro, singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc, fashion designer Kara Messina and Happy Socks creative director Viktor Tell.

In addition to the nine collaborative shoes in the collection, adidas Originals has also designed a tenth shoe, marking their 20th year of involvement in the Olympics with a BC silhouette. Created in a colourway inspired by the original adidas Olympia, a selection of sockliners celebrate classic silhouettes from the brand’s deep connection with Olympic history.

The adidas Decade Hi by Stefan Glerum is available at select retailers now. For more information on the adidas Consortium 'Your Story' project, click here and here
