Nike & Pushead
Following their much-hyped collaboration from 2005, Nike SB have once again teamed up with American artist Pushead for the creation of a very special Dunk Low sneaker...
Pushead (aka Brian Schroeder) is a multi-faceted creative whose talents extend to being both an artist and writer, as well as the owner of two record labels. Alongside skateboard graphics, Schroeder is perhaps best known for his record sleeve artwork, which featured heavily on the covers of punk and heavy metal releases throughout the 80s and 90s.
For this latest collaboration with Nike's skateboarding division, Schroeder has referenced his past and given the shoe a bleach-effect pattern - as a nod to his days of fronting punk band Septic Death (while wearing customised bleached jeans). The rest of the shoe comprises of a gum outsole, black canvas paneling, gold trim (around the tongue), a Pushead motif on the heel, with the bleached pattern again appearing on the laces. The artistic input also extends to the inside of the shoe (this time without the quilted lining), with an illustrated skull featuring on each insole, complete with Pushead signature.
Serving almost as a re-edit of the original collaboration, the 2012 colourway uses a more subtle palette in comparison to the 2005 version (shown bottom), and in place of the special edition illustrated shoebox (which housed the original sneakers), the latest release comes with a clever tote-style bag/sleeve, again printed using the bleached pattern.
The Nike Dunk SB Pushead Premium is available (along with a matching apparel line and skate deck) through select Nike SB accounts from 14 July
