Hennessy & Converse & Futura

The latest project from legendary graffiti artist Futura sees him in a three-way collaboration alongside Converse and cognac distiller Hennessy…

The bulk of the project revolves around Hennessy's V.S (or Very Special) artist series, in which a chosen creative reinterprets the label of the Hennessy 750ml cognac bottle. The project started last year with a collaboration with graffiti writer turned gallery artist Kaws, where he placed his signature block-colour graphic illustrations and 'double X' insignia upon the bottle.

Futura decided to take his creativity one step further and, in addition to the numbered limited edition (of 200,000) graphic bottles being released to the public, several pairs of all black Converse were custom painted by Futura and distributed to a lucky few as part of a special box set, not available for purchase. The shoe itself is an all black colour-up of the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High, with a Hennessy brand logo stitched in black on the tongue tab. The all-over colour detailing on the shoe is hand-splattered by Futura, making each sneaker an individual piece of art.

Futura 2000, aka Lenny McGurr, has been featured several times previously on the blog for his footwear-based projects with Nike's skateboarding division, where he created some of the most sought after shoes from the SB collection, and Clarks Originals
