Sneakers: The Complete Limited Editions Guide

This week sees the launch of a new book, written and designed by U-Dox, focusing on the very best and most collectible limited-edition sneakers released over the past decade. Entitled Sneakers: The Complete Limited Edition Guide, the book is the sequel to the best-selling (and classic) Sneakers: The Complete Collectors’ Guide, also written by U-Dox. Here we take an in-depth look at the book, which is undoubtedly an essential publication for any sneaker fan...

In contrast to the first publication, this sequel focuses on the reissuing of classic designs and the creation of shoes that have spurred a new wave of sneaker collecting: limited editions and collaborations between brands and everyone from invited artists, musicians and cultural icons. As such, the book contains a healthy selection of collaborative efforts from artists and designers (many of which are also featured in the Art & Sole book), including shoes from Dave WhiteBen Drury, Kaws, Stash, IRAK, Patta and Will Sweeney to name but a few.

To bring the shoes to life, the U-Dox team created bespoke photographic treatments for key models and worked with their in-house photographer to document details of every sneaker included in the book. From camouflaging shoes on trees, recreating an Oktoberfest scene complete with pretzels, laying out a feast fit for hamsters and even taking a perfectly-shaped bite from a donut in a Simpson-inspired set - U-Dox have brought to life the subject of this book superbly. Also look out for a California swimming pool, a traditonal cobbler's workshop and even an archival museum, all created at locations near U-Dox's London studio. As with the first book, each sneaker is also accompanied by relevant data including edition, pack, year released, original purpose, technology and various extras.

In addition to all this, U-Dox have also launched a microsite entitled Complete Sneakers - which features a film (also shown below) celebrating the launch of the book, including interviews with key sneaker aficionados such as Charlie Dark, Dave White and Tinie Tempah. We're also told that a dedicated app covering content from both books is on the horizon for later this year - so watch this space for more details...
