New Balance & Mita & SBTG
Singapore-based sneaker customiser and designer SBTG (aka Mark Ong) has worked with Tokyo sneaker shop Mita Sneakers on this New Balance MRT580SM model...
A subtle collaboration throughout, SBTG has used his vine and tiger-stripe camouflage patterns combined with a vibrant lime green colour to great effect. The hidden gems of this collaboration are certainly the insoles, featuring SBTG's artwork which references the breaking down of barriers that happens when various partners (in this case NB, Mita and SBTG) join forces to collaborate. This theme is also continued through to the tongue labels, which feature Mita Sneakers' signature wire fence - and a pair of wire cutters.
After winning a sneaker customising competition on the NikeTalk forum, SBTG became a well known name (alongisde others like Alex Nash) in the field of sneaker customisation. Since then, he's gone on to work with Nike, DC, and now New Balance, on commerically-released models.
The New Balance & Mita & SBTG MRT580SM sneakers were released on 16 January 2014
