Lakai & Van Styles
Photographer, skateboarder, LA-native and longtime friend of the brand, Van Styles comes together with Lakai to have his imagery applied to their Camby and Griffin Mid models...
Originally born in New York and now residing in Los Angeles, Van Styles (aka Stephen Vanasco) is best known within the photographic scene for his glamour photography, as well as working in the streets capturing daily LA life. Having worked with several recognisable streetwear brands over the years, he's honed his own photographic style of utilising natural light to his advantage, rather than opting for flash-based set-ups.
The Lakai collaboration spans over a set of two shoes, each one taking a very different approach. The low-top deck style Camby is set up with an all-over print motif made from various black and white portraits of girls shot by Van Styles, with his VS logo adorning the tongue and insole in hot pink. The Griffin Mid is much more modest in its appearance, with the upper made up in a clean back suede and a leather Lakai logo flashing across each side. The palette for this pair is a nod to the Leica brand cameras Van Styles favours to use when shooting.
The Lakai & Van Styles Camby and Griffin Mid are available from select outlets now.
