With a subtle reference to the embroidered imagery that often features on special edition footwear, Spanish artist Benirivas creates incredibly detailed miniature versions of her favourite sneakers using needle and thread...
Inspired by traditional embroidery and its history, Madrid-based Benirivas' attention to detail (and patience) is admirable - producing this ongoing series of tiny hommages to the sneaker world. Depending on the model, colour and textures of the original shoe, an embroidered artwork can take anywhere between three hours and three days to complete. 'Choosing the next sneaker to embroider is what takes me more time!' says Benirivas. 'If I don't have the time to embroider what I want in a certain moment, I write it on list and... sooner or later, I will embroider it!'
Shown here (in order of appearence), are the Nike Jordan Spizike, Saucony Packer Grid 9000, New Balance 530 Ronnie Fieg, Nike Kyrie 1 BHM, Reebok Ventilator OG, Puma ZS 698, Nike SB Stefan Janoski and Nike Air Max 1 Essential.
