Asics & Surface to Air
Officially launched on Sunday 10 April (in honour of the Marathon de Paris,) this Asics collaboration with creative studio and fashion brand Surface to Air uses the performance Gel DS Trainer 14 silhouette. With inspiration apparently coming from lightning storms and the controversial hi-tech Olympic swimming suits, these all-black make-ups show attention to detail with subtle touches including reflective piping on the uppers and the Surface to Air logo featured on the tongue, toe box and on a metal eyelet on the side-panels.
Surface to Air initially started out as a creative consultancy, but soon branched out into the areas of film, creative direction and clothing. After its first concept store in 2002, the brand opened a boutique in Paris, and subsequently developed its own menswear, womenswear and childrenswear collections. In January 2010, the brand opened its flagship store in Paris, which also houses an art gallery featuring young creative talent. Surface to Air's inspiration mainly comes from contemporary culture, and each season they also create a collection with an artist such as fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø.
As well as the sneakers themselves, this limited edition release also features a canvas carry bag and screen-printed t-shirt featuring the Surface to Air logo
