A Few of My Favourite Sneakers: Jason Munro
As the Christmas holiday approaches fast, we thought we’d give you a visual treat to keep you occupied over the festive season. The latest in our series ‘A Few of My Favourite Sneakers’ is by Brighton-based illustrator Jason Munro…
A recent graduate of Kingston University in the UK, Munro's work tends to be very character based and is made using a mixture of digital and hand drawn techniques. ‘I've always loved playing sport,' says Munro, ‘and my taste in sneakers has really always evolved with that. It’s great to see how much of an icon the sneaker has become, and it’s fascinating just how much the shoes we choose to wear can say about us.'
Approaches to colour applications and fabric combinations used within the sneaker industry have a big influence on Munro's work, inspiring him to try new things with his own colour palettes. ‘Paying homage to the sneakers that have influenced me is a very natural step, and something that I hope to combine with my character work in the future.’
In order of appearance, the sneakers rendered here by Munro include:
Asics Gel-Lyte III (Ronnie Fieg)
Nike SB Stefan Janoski
Nike Air Max 90
Nike Air Flow
Nike Air Max Light
Puma Blaze of Glory (Sneaker Freaker)
Nike Dunk High
Nike Air Mariah
Nike Air Jordan 3
As always, we hope you enjoy the work shown, and thanks again to Jason Munro for a really great set of images.
