adidas & Shaniqwa Jarvis
Following on from our previous post about the adidas Consortium 'Your Story' project, the second of the five-shoe releases happened on Saturday, and included this ZX500 silhouette designed by London-based photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis...
The 'Your Story' project sees nine creative’s collaborating on a range of silhouettes from the Consortium F/W11 collection. Chosen from Olympic cities around the world, the selected creative partners were asked to take inspiration from their own past Olympic memories, translating them on to a shoe.
As a child, Jarvis was a swim team member and trained for the junior Olympics - an experience she has subtly referenced in this collaboration. The suede upper of the shoe is predominately 'swimming pool blue' (partly perforated for texture) with a brown suede heel tab to reflect the colour scheme of her local pool. As well as featuring Jarvis' signature on the inside of the tongue’s fabric loop tag, the shoes also come with an alternative set of brightly coloured dip-dyed laces which were inspired by swimming pool lane dividers.
In addition to Jarvis' shoe, the second stage release (the collection was released in two groups of five shoes) features shoes from fashion designer Kara Messina (London), Happy Socks creative director Viktor Tell (Stockholm) and illustrator Stefan Glerum (Amsterdam).
