adidas Stan Smith & You
Last week saw the re-launch of the world famous adidas Stan Smith - one of the best-selling sneakers of all time. A variety of creative events happened around the globe for the reissue, but the one that caught our eye specifically was this #StanSmith Twitter competition...
Utilising the shoe’s iconic ‘Endorsed by Stan Smith’ tongue label (shown bottom), adidas asked their followers on Twitter to submit a portrait of themselves to be embellished in true Stan Smith style. U-Dox, the creative agency behind the project, assembled a team of global artworkers who, in real-time for one week, turned each user’s submitted portrait into their very own Stan Smith tongue label. Throughout the campaign, one lucky winner per day received their very own one-off pair of Stan Smith sneakers complete with personalised tongue graphic.
Over the course of the week, there were over 10,000 competition tweet entries and 1800 tongue graphics created around the world. Men, women, cats, dogs, babies and even a gorilla made their way onto the Stan Smith tongues.
