Art & Street Sole: Nike & Parra

We've been thinking about introducing a street snap-style category here on the A&S website for some time now and, as you can see, we've finally got around to making it a reality. Art & Street Sole is an ongoing project in which we show some of our favourite artist/designer collaborations actually 'on-foot'. First up is the Nike & Parra Air Max 95 (from the 2008 art-based Running Man pack) photographed by A&S contributor and extremely talented photographer James Measom...

The Running Man project saw Nike collaborate with three different artists including Todd James (aka Reas), Misha Hollenbach (of PAM fame) and Piet 'Parra' Janssen. Each artist worked on three seperate elements for the collaboration; a Nike Windrunner jacket, a T-shirt and a sneaker. James was assigned the Cortez silhouette, Hollenbach the Air Max 90 and Parra the Air Max 95, as shown here. The Parra-designed shoe features his distinctive colour palette, as well as including elements of his artwork on the insoles, tongues and (translucent) outsoles.

*To submit photographs of your best artist/designer collaborations actually on-foot, see our monthly Art & Street Sole competition (to be launched very soon) via our Instagram page. Our favourite entries will win a prize, and the best images will also be featued here on the blog.
