Converse & André
We’ve written previously about a collaboration involving French artist (plus hotelier and nightclub owner) André Saraiva, and it seems he’s been at it again with this very recent 'André for Converse' Chuck Taylor All Star collection…
The collection includes three different colourways, all of which feature special branding on the tongue of the shoes. The first colour make-up is the ‘Love’ sneaker, referencing the Saraiva founded Hôtel Amour in Paris, and the second is the ‘Purple’ sneaker (featuring an additional Purple-branded graphic on the outer side of the shoe) in reference to Saraiva’s friend and co-collaborator Olivier Zahm, Editor-in-Chief of Purple Magazine.
The third colourway is an all-black ‘Night’ sneaker which, as far as we know, is for friends and family of Saraiva and the Le Baron nightclubs only – as Saraiva also founded the infamous Le Baron nightclubs, which are renowned for their blend of fashion, art and nightlife. The 'Night' shoe also features an additional Le Baron-branded graphic on the outer side of the shoe.
Saraiva explains: “The collaboration was about family. I thought it would be fun to work with people I like such as Olivier Zahm. I selected the Chuck Taylor All Star because it’s what I used to wear when I was 13 and the inspiration is classic with a twist of night.”
The ‘Love’ and ‘Purple’ Converse & André Chuck Taylor All Stars are available now from Converse First String retailers worldwide
