Converse & Andy Warhol
In partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation, Converse have created this set of Warhol-inspired Chuck Taylor All Star shoes for Spring 2015...
Paying homage to the visionary artist, the collection covers both mens and womens styles, comprising of the Chuck Taylor All Star (High and Low), Chuck Taylor All Star '70 (High and Low), Chuck Taylor All Star Lux and the Chuck Taylor All Star Platform. "With this collection, we aim to celebrate and foster the innovative artistic expression that's intrinsic to both Converse and Andy Warhol' explains Converse Design Director Damion Silver. "Warhol famously created art inspired by American pop culture icons, and was a pioneer in utilising the Chuck Taylor All Star as a blank canvas for his work."
The majority of the collection utilises Warhol's iconic Campbell's Soup can imagery in bold primary colours, while the All Star '70s also feature monochromatic motorcycle and newspaper prints inspired from Warhol's advertising and illustration series. The Campbell's Soup can and newsprint imagery is again used for the women's Lux and Platform models.
The Converse & Andy Warhol collection is available to purchase now. A portion of the proceeds from the collection will support the non-profit Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
