New Balance & Colette & La MJC
Red and grey suede are complimented by white accents and a deep red ankle collar on this NB 1500, the third collaboration between New Balance, Paris-based boutique Colette and creative agency La MJC. As printed on the insoles of the shoes, this collaboration has been named ‘Vivre Sans Temps Mort’, meaning ‘To Live Without Idleness’.
Apparently the name comes from a slogan coined during the Parisian protests of 1968, where students rioted and two-thirds of the French workforce went on strike in an attempt to shake up the ‘old society’. The shoes were originally set to launch in 2008 as a commemoration to the 30th anniversary of 1968, but the release was delayed for reasons unknown.
Hand crafted at the New Balance factory in Flimby, UK, the shoes are finally available as from tomorrow at Colette, at the Cool Cats online store.
