Vans & Curtis Kulig

As the (Valentine) month of February comes to a close, we thought we'd show you this 'Love Me' collaboration between Vans and artist/photographer Curtis Kulig...

The project is the latest in a long list of noteworthy collaborations from the New York native, including work with Nike, Obey and Carhartt as well as a slew of collaborative shows with esteemed creative personalities. Kulig's art takes on many forms, but his most famed work is his iconic 'Love Me' graffiti campaign. Taking the basic form of tagging and pushing it to its limits has taken him out of the streets of New York and into gallery shows around the world.

For this project with Vans, Kulig applied his style to the clean panels of an Authentic, a Checkerboard Slip-on and a Sk8-Hi Slim (a women's specific style), perfect canvases for his artistic style. The Authentic and Sk8-Hi are the more toned-down models in the pack, with pillar-box red uppers and the 'Love Me' tag embroidered in white onto the main body of the shoe. The Slip-On takes a slightly wilder form with a 'paint-splatter' design scrawled across the black and white toe box of the shoe, featuring one tag dripping into the next.
