Vans & Eley Kishimoto
Vans have recently teamed up with famous husband-and-wife duo Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto on a large collection of footwear, apparel and accessories...
For those that don't know them already, Eley Kishimoto are a British fashion and design house founded in 1992, now famous for their iconic bold, vibrant and kinetic graphic patterns. Their mission is to 'print the world' and their patterns are regularly used across fashion and homewear collections with some high profile collaborators.
Entitled 'Living Art', Vans wanted to create a collection with the duo that exemplified creativity and stand-out style. With over 30 pieces in this collection, we're focusing mainly on the footwear side of things, starting with the Vans Slip-On and the Sk8-Hi Reissue - both of which feature the most iconic Eley Kishimoto print of them all - the 'flash'. Next up is an Authentic, which features a combination of the flash and a magnolia flower print, plus the Sk8-Hi Slim designed with the drum print (which was actually inspired by the original Vans checkerboard print) and the Slip-On with the same print. Finally we have the Era model, which features the whopping waffle print (this time inspired by the Vans waffle sole) and another Authentic designed with a bumpy road print and bold navy stripes.
We've also picked out a selection of our favourite accessories from the collection, as shown below, in addition to a great little film created to promote the collaboration.
The collection launched in London with an event and exhibition held at the House of Vans space. Some images of the exhibition can again be seen below and to view a gallery of images from the launch, click here.
